Dream Again!

We MUST let go of the past in order truly embrace the moment & move forward toward our Vision. When the WHY is bigger than the HOW, we will naturally move forward. The key is determining the “Heart of Your WHY” & keeping it visibly in front of you. One key word or phrase written down & placed where you will be reminded often is a technique that I have recommended to many of my clients. For example, if weight loss is a goal, I would ask you, “Why do you want to lose weight?’

Most people say, “I just want to look better & feel better.” I would the ask, “Why is that important to you?” I might also ask, “What are the 3 most important things in your life?” Many people will identify, family, health, making money, faith, etc. Then, I would help them be descriptive. What does it look like to be at your best in that area? How can getting healthier & losing weight help you to make a positive impact in that area, or perform better or enjoy that area of your life more?

For me, I am motivated by inspiring others & making a positive difference in my life. I have specific goals that are written down & posted on my wall. I have had written goals for many years & sadly many of those goals & dreams have not come to fruition. I feel I am in a sad ship along with many others who have a “Box of Dreams” but have become discouraged by set backs, wasted time, distractions, relationships that have depleted me mentally & emotionally, along with the rigors of being a single mom for many years.

Today, I am choosing to Dream Again…with Vision & a plan with legs. Having a written goal is a great 1st step, but every goal must be attached your values & have a plan that can be broken down into daily activities. This is where I have missed it! We must stay focused on the long term vision – your purpose. Keep it in front of you. Break down the goals into daily action steps. Be aware of obstacles & distractions, then have a plan to defeat or avoid those obstacles.

The following is a goal setting tool that I use to help my clients get clear on creating a “Blueprint for Success” for their health & fitness goals. This outline can be used to set goals in any area of life. Tomorrow I am going to complete this for my own goals. There is a scripture that has been spoken over me on more than one occasion, Habakkuk 2:2-4:
 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

My interpretation: Write down your vision & share it with others. Be patient & diligent. You may not have experienced the fruition of your vision, but it is coming & will manifest at the right time!

A successful friend of mine once said that Luck is simply being ready when opportunity arises! So ladies & gentlemen, start YOUR engines! Lets get ready for transformation by starting with GREAT GOALS!
